María Jesús “Chus” Lago Rey, born in Vigo (Pontevedra) on 25th December 1964, became in 1999 the first Spanish woman and 3rd in the world to climb Everest without the aid of artificial oxygen.
The prestige of this climb catapulted her towards new challenges like the Leopardo de las Nieves: conquering the 5 highest peaks in the Soviet Union; or the South Pole expedition.
