The Sala BBK will be the location chosen for the screenings of the Official Section, the Panel Talks and the Mendi Talks, the tribute to Peter Habeler, and the Non Stop session on the last day of the Festival with the films that have been awarded prizes.
Famous alpinists and climbers such as Catherine Destivelle, Lynn Hill, Josune Bereziartu and Edurne Pasaban will feature during the first stages of the Mendifilm, between 9 and 11 December.
51 films will compete in the Official Section of the 10th anniversary, dealing with topics, styles and activities of all kinds. The distribution of films according to their origin is as follows: United States (9 films), Canada (7), Germany (4), United Kingdom (4), Austria (4), Australia (3), France (3), Italy (2), Argentina (1), Bulgaria (1), China (1), Slovakia (1), Poland (1) and Switzerland (1), and there is also a French-British co-production.
They will be joined by 8 Spanish films, 4 of which are by Basque-Navarrese authors: Aurrera by Mikel Peña Sarrionandia, Bizi II by Luis Arrieta, Mr Ibex by Iker Elorrieta, and Zortzi Yukon by Mattin Zeberio. Three more films have Basque-Navarrese protagonists: A4 in Free with the Pou brothers, Al otro lado de la cuerda with Arkaitz Yurrita as the producer and protagonist along with Ekaitz Maiz, Mikel Zabalza, Unai Mendia and Eneko Cesar, and Jugando a Escalar where Andoni Esparta is one of the protagonists.
A tribute will also be paid to a great friend of the Mendi, Alberto Zerain, who along with Mariano Galván died on Nanga Parbat last summer. On Tuesday 12 December they will be remembered with an event that will be held in the Sala BBK.
Since 23 November, tickets for all the sessions and events of the 10th edition of the Bilbao Mendi Film Festival have been on sale on the Festival's website.
