Eñaut Izagirre

Hello. My name is Vicente Castro and I’ve always been attracted to the coldest places on the planet. I've opened up new routes in high latitude mountains and I've taken part in marine and terrestrial expeditions across polar regions including Greenland, Patagonia and Antarctica..

Bio

Vicente Castro Sotos (Madrid, 1973) is an extreme explorer. Since his early days as a mountain guide in 2000, he has always had a strong inclination to explore, cross and navigate the most extreme parts of the planet. In 2003 he was a mountain guide at the Spanish Antarctic base and from there launched a distinguished career as a polar explorer. In addition to climbing Kilimanjaro 14 times, not to mention numerous other mountains in Africa and Asia, Vicente is renowned for his participation in innumerable ski and kayak crossings at both poles. In 2013 he opened up six virgin hillsides in Greenland using a small sailboat for transportation and in 2016, together with Jean Bouchet, he explored and climbed several peaks in the Cordillera Darwin in Patagonia. Vicente is currently the skipper and owner of the sailboat Iorana. He travels on the vessel as an independent guide for photographic and mountaineering expeditions in Tierra del Fuego, the Arctic, Canada and Antarctica.
